According to King Solomon, his beloved Shulammite is beautiful as a dove. So I tried to observe in our backyard the beauty of a zebra dove. I really have difficulty taking a sharp shot of this bird because it doesn't stay in one place. It is always on the move looking for food. And its head is always moving. Grrrr! Manual Exposure, 500mm, F/6.3, 1/80sec., ISO-400 Manual Exposure, 500mm, F/6.3, 1/80sec., ISO-1000, +2 Exposure Compensation Manual Exposure, 500mm, F/6.3, 1/80sec., ISO-1000, +2 Exposure Compensation Manual Exposure, 500mm, F/6.3, 1/80sec., ISO-400

Love the pose and and eye contact in the last photo, Mark. Great detail, too. thank you, kuya mark! i'm amazed to discover that sparrows have beautiful eyes too. what i have before are like black marbles without details.

Nice captures, Mark. It looks like you have a good copy of the BigmOS. Excellent detail on the 3rd photo. thanks for the encouraging comments, kuya mark! katukayo! ;D this is my second copy of the BigmOS. my first copy was replaced due to a speck of flint/dust in the front elements. then, as i've mentioned in my ETS post, the replacement seems to act weird. it doesn't deliver sharp images. i was wondering if the lens is not a good copy or i just got rusty with the techniques. so i studied my previous shots with the first copy and then i practiced shooting again. and i'm now figuring out how i can maximize this wonderful BigmOS. ;D

Nice series Mark. I like the in-habitat composition but the images look a bit over sharpened in my monitor. thanks, kuya rey! i'll take note of the sharpening. i may have over sharpened it. still have to learn a lot with regards to post processing.

I have been so excited to see new lifers since I got into birdwatching and bird photography. Most of the time, if I see a sparrow, I'll just ignore it. My busy schedule, physical limitations and the seemingly weird performance of my lens pushed me to observe this very common bird. I just realized that it's as fascinating as any other birds I have seen. I was also reminded by one WBCP member that don't let eagerness to see a lifer get in the way of enjoying and understanding the behavior of commonly seen birds, like the ETS. Besides, if my memory serves me right, it is the only bird the Jesus mentioned in the Bible. Manual Exposure, 500mm, F/6.3, 1/60sec., ISO-400 Manual Exposure, 500mm, F/6.3, 1/80sec., ISO-400 Manual Exposure, 500mm, F/6.3, 1/80sec., ISO-400 Manual Exposure, 500mm, F/6.3, 1/80sec., ISO-400

this bird really loves to pose! wonderful series indeed.
i'm waiting for my chance to see this bird just in our backyard. dad, who is already blind, is very familiar with its call and he said that he hears it early in the morning.

thank you, sir! actually, whwn i took the number 3 shot, the bird is already alarmed that she is being observed. so i distanced myself or i would leave for few minutes so that she could have privacy. it's nice to know that you are also using the same lens. cheers!
