I still have to try the Bigma on the Ducks at SRP. So far the weather/fog prevents me form doing this.
Romy, you just raised the bar on wild flying duck photography!! ;D ;D ;D

Hi Nilo I hope you and your family are all doing great. Where are your Christmas pictures from the Christmas celebration in Olango this year ? Hi Tina, Yes, they are doing great. The Olango pictures were mostly of the kids. In fact, for the first time we forgot to take the traditional group photo I'll check again this weekend if there are some useable shots for posting. I'm so happy for you with the rare captures...

Thanks a lot Raffy & Manny Martin : I agree with you HEhHEhehEHeE Romy : Not as fruitful as I'd want it to be but that Eurasian Spoonbill is enough to last me a few months of being able to capture very little birds only per sortie Hello Tina, 1. The Spoonbill in flight photos are simply marvelous. 2. Are the coucals photogenic this time of the year in Candaba? I know someone who traveled to the far ends of Cebu island, spent 4 days in Bohol and nade countless birding sorties in our birding areas just for the coucal... ;D

Thanks Romy. This bird was a good target practice for the CFP. The fruit only as big as the tip of a cotton bud

Got this photo of the endemic Pygmy Flowerpecker [Dicaeum pygmaeum] in Nug-as forest, Alcoy, Cebu. I think this is the nominal race.

Hi Ding and all,
First: Congratulations for the very good and detailed owl pics.
Second: Bird-in-Nest photography is difficult because there are many considerations. We have to understand the comfort zone of the subject in order to avoid stress on the pair. This is takes time if the bird is a lifer. Sometimes we are tempted to get closer or clear vegetation in order to get better angle or lighting but the success of the breeding pair should be the top priority... I can only say this since at the end of the day, individuals in the field make decisions.
Thanks and again congratulations.
Nilo

What a beauty! Ganyan pala birding outings, travel far, long waits, mosquito bites and a reward with an awesome photo if your lucky. Aside from mosquito bites, expect occasional encounters with wild bees, snakes and leeches in some areas Its ok for me specially if the CF cards are already filled with lifers... Romy even volunteered to donate blood to the leeches of Mt. Makiling in exchange for Guaiberos and Colasisis HAHAHA Nilo

A Grey-faced Buzzard [Butastur indicus] to me. Nilo I chanced upon this raptor while walking through a coconut plantation. I didn't have my binocs with me but my Canon Powershot. I managed to go close enough to get these shots before it flew away. It always had its back to me so I couldn't see its breast feathers. Is the bird wearing a band?
