I was really excited to go to Candaba. Wency and I agreed that we would leave the house at 4:30 a.m for Candaba so that I can catch the golden light in the morning. For some reason, I was up by 2:30 a.m and was raring to go to our favorite wetlands ... Ahhhhh finally, can't wait I was asleep most of the way... as soon as we said our prayers for a safe trip and a good birding day - I don't remember seeing anything else anymore. When I woke up, we were at the Candaba area already ;D We got to the place just in time - the much loved golden light was shining wonderfully on everything. The first birds I saw were these... Was still sleepy when I took these - HehHEheEHe that's the reason for the teeeeneeee tiiiinieeeee photos OH, oH, OH ... Why was it a memorable day ? ? ? ? Hmmmm because of this bird of course - The very first country record of a Eurasian Spoonbill. Anyway, to make a long story short, please visit my gallery at ... Wow, these are great captures. The Eurasian spoonbill is beautiful. Hope I could get a chance to shoot in Candaba too someday.

Thanks a lot Raffy & Manny Martin : I agree with you HEhHEhehEHeE Romy : Not as fruitful as I'd want it to be but that Eurasian Spoonbill is enough to last me a few months of being able to capture very little birds only per sortie

The Spoonbill in flight photos are simply marvelous. 2. Are the coucals photogenic this time of the year in Candaba? I know someone who traveled to the far ends of Cebu island, spent 4 days in Bohol and nade countless birding sorties in our birding areas just for the coucal... ;D

Hi Nilo I hope you and your family are all doing great. Where are your Christmas pictures from the Christmas celebration in Olango this year ? Thanks for the kind words (kilig na naman ako). During this sortie, I saw about 4 coucals but all lesser coucals - which is my favorite because of the patterns on the feathers. Yes, they are quite beautiful this time of year specially early in the morning when the sun hits them while "sunbathing" - HehEHehEe Hmmmmm who traveled to the far ends of Cebu island and spent 4 days in Bohol and made countless birding sorties in your birding areas just for the coucal ? Could it be the one and the only - famous Bobby K ? I hope he was successful

The notorious Bobby K is more like it! Heck, in all those sorties, I came across even more exotic birds instead, yet the Philippine coucal continues to evade me. You, on the other hand, have even captured the legendary White Morph!!! Bwahahahaha.

Hi Nilo I hope you and your family are all doing great. Where are your Christmas pictures from the Christmas celebration in Olango this year ? Hi Tina, Yes, they are doing great. The Olango pictures were mostly of the kids. In fact, for the first time we forgot to take the traditional group photo I'll check again this weekend if there are some useable shots for posting. I'm so happy for you with the rare captures...
