Yes, I believe it is, TJ.... big congrats on this uncommon resident, a most-wanted bird for me!!! Our data base now lists this bird as Pacific Reef-Heron ( Egretta sacra ). Romy

Yes, a dark morph (do not use the inappropriate terminology used in the KG - i.e., phase!) Egretta sacra.
As far as English Common Names - Eastern or Pacific Reef-Egret. This is why I always tend to use scientific binomina when speaking of birds. I know that it probably annoys a lot of people, but I learned them that way, and I don't have to remember all of the varying Common Names - in Latin, even people that only speak Chinese, Swahili, or whatever, know what I am talking about...
