At about 7:00 a.m. today, I was birding at Sepoc Beach, Maricaban Island, Batangas. I was shooting a Pied Fantail on a sand pathway underneath thick "aroma" thornbushes, when an unidentifiable brown bird about the same size but a bit chunkier hopped across the pathway and disappeared in the brush. I was able to take only these 2 documentary shots. I only saw the bright red throat in the photos. Is this a male Siberian Rubythroat ( Luscinia calliope)? The KG says the SR is an uncommon migrant in the northern Philippines.

What an excellent harvest of beautiful birds, Nelson. I especially like the Jungle Owlet in this posting.
Can I ask how much the cost of the birding tours was?

I guess they are the same species but perhaps different subspecies, Ely. I will leave it to the experts to explain why they are found in both Italy and the Philippines.

Wow, great BIF shots, Neil. I never knew bee-eaters dive into water. Were these going for bugs in the water or little fish?

Nice harvest, Steve. I have not been to Baguio in years, but I recall there were not many birds there, even in Baguio Country Club.

Thanks, Neon and Ely.
It is surprising to see the huge range of some birds, in this case from Switzerland to the Philippines. Are they the same subspecies - or is one subspecies in Europe and another subspecies in Asia?

That's great that you can get so close to the birds in your farm.

Nice shots, Neil. The second photo shows yellow barred feathers on the shoulder. I have never seen that on a Guaiabero.
