At about 7:00 a.m. today, I was birding at Sepoc Beach, Maricaban Island, Batangas. I was shooting a Pied Fantail on a sand pathway underneath thick "aroma" thornbushes, when an unidentifiable brown bird about the same size but a bit chunkier hopped across the pathway and disappeared in the brush. I was able to take only these 2 documentary shots. I only saw the bright red throat in the photos. Is this a male Siberian Rubythroat ( Luscinia calliope)? The KG says the SR is an uncommon migrant in the northern Philippines.
