The afternoon on the day I spotted the Colasisi, I spotted these Guaiaberos feasting on the balimbing in my backyard! The thing was I had left my birding glass at the office, so I had to make do with what was available Olympus E30, Sigma 70-200 ISO 800 @ f/4 1/250 s 1/40s 1/250s 1/80s

Nice shots, Neil. The second photo shows yellow barred feathers on the shoulder. I have never seen that on a Guaiabero.

Great capture of a pair of guaiaberos! The male has a blue collar and the female yellow. its the male who has a more bluer face as well.
It looks like the really like to eat the "balingbing" there in Mindanao, I shot guaiaberos in my fathers farm in Mlang North Cotabato eating it. As well as the "macopa" or "tambis", I have shots in Mt Makiling where they were eating it as well. From the looks of it the second photo show a young bird being fed by the mother.

These are beautiful and matured Guiaiaberos. As Neon explained that the color of the collars help in differentiating the male and the female. With that I learned something new today. They look so chubby. Well done Neil & Mabuhay.
