I went back to the University this morning and I was able to convince the guards to let me in early inside the park. It paid off as I was able to see a pair of this toucan specie plus some more birds which I was not able to see last week. I will post more of those in the coming days. 400D, 400mm, 1/800s ISO400 400D, 400mm, 1/800s ISO400 400D, 400mm, 1/800s ISO400 400D, 400mm, 1/400s ISO200

Thank you Edwin, vesmes, Rey and Bob for the inspring comments. Yes, these birds are very small. I saw these birds outside the University building their nests. I was able to position myself close enough to get these pictures. Thanks for viewing!

The bird did not look at you, maybe you did not shave that day. Heh heh heh. They are still very good pictures. Since this place is near your house you should go there whenever you can. Its such a lovely place with all the different kind of birds and the best thing about it is that you can get close to them. Well done Ariel. Mabuhay. nice one hehe.. I probably looked worse than that hehe.. The University is actually owned by UN and is sorrounded by coffee farms, primary and secondary forests. I am planning to go there again and I am hoping to catch a toucan. Regards.

Wow! It looks like the bird really posed here for you. Very nice and very sharp as well. The soft light made it even beautiful.

Beautiful catch with lots of details. You always seem to get close to the birds, I suppose they are not hunted in that place. Thanks, Rey. The best thing about birding in Costa Rica is that a 400mm lens such as the one I have is sufficient because birds are very close and like you said, are not being hunted. Many people from the US and Europe come here to take birding tours. The government has a very strict laws when it comes to hunting down animals and cutting down trees. Unfortunately in Philippines, we may have enough laws but short on implementation.
