Finally after a long hiatus in the local birding scene, I was able to smell the outdoor breeze of a favorite birding spot.
This is also timely because I was able test the Canon M2 (mirrorless system) in field condition. The Hybrid CMOS II sensor apparently delivers the AF performance in this camera. I like the idea of the small + big setup but as expected, the balance was way off than what I'm used to which would require considerable adjustment in terms of operations. There's no view finder which effectively forced me to shoot blindly amidst the bright sun in the open mid-day field.
Overall, I'm happy with the field experience with this setup. In between clicks of the camera's shutter or "finger pointing" in the case of the Canon EOS M2... we also had our fill of tales and stories with friends over coffee. Such a simple life of a birder in this part of the country. Many thanks to Tateo, Bobby K and Doc Luico for the warm company.

Below is the M2 mated with the Canon 600mm f/4 IS via the EOS adapter c/o Tateo.
Another angle of the setup showing the relative size of the camera and the lens combo.

Hello everyone, After a long hiatus, I'm happy to finally able to process some photos from birding trips the past year. Below is a photo taken during a memorable trip to the colder mountains of the Philippines.
Thank you.

Excellent Tateo-san. This is exactly the type of photos one can get if the wild birds are left do their natural behavior... I am happy to be part of your newly discovered approach and technique... it makes birding so relaxed... and of course fun before, during and after the sortie

Excellent choice and presentation. You had hundreds of photos of this bird mostly "full framers" with tons of details but you opted for this cropped shot as representative of the lot. Wow!!!

Thanks for appreciating, Tina. I have countless (often close) encounters with this bird in different islands but often the situation does not offer a reasonable chance of a full body capture...

Hello everyone,
I would like to share one of my favorite tailorbirds in the Philippines. This bird is probably the easiest to see and photographed among the tailorbirds in the country in my opinion. Thank you for viewing.
