I read in an old issue of NatGeo magazine of a London orchidologist spraying cologne on his cattleyas to attract Sunbirds/Hummingbirds to his garden. Perhaps, Ate Lyds suggestion of citronella (stronger aroma) should be good. Ate Lyds, maybe your citronella has attracted butterflies to you!

All photographs were taken with Canon EOS 7D 400MM, tripod. processed with DPP, AdobePhotoShop 7.0 & CS5, cropped. I would appreciate ID of this Sunbird, please. Thank you. 1/166sec, f/6.4, ISO-800 May, 5, 2012, 7:39 a.m., Bangkong Kahoy Valley (BKV), Dolores, Quezon Province, PHILIPPINES. Brush Cuckoo imm, 1/512sec, f/5.7, ISO-250, 6/16/12 - 2:30pm - BKV. Brush Cuckoo imm, 1/13sec, f/5.7, ISO-800, 6/16/12 - 4:17pm - BKV. Spotted Wood-Kingfisher imm - This bird was seen by a BKV farmer being attacked by a Balicassiao, brought to RamonQ's house, cared for by Chris (care-taker), ravenously ate insects fed to it. Few days later, was placed in a low branch (my photos), and the sound of the distressed bird attracted the mother Kingfisher, stayed for a few moments, then flew off together with the immature Kingfisher. We were told later that it was a sight to behold. i1210.photobucket.com/albums/cc409/titopoch/5_MG_8675/ SpottedWoodKingfisherimm.jpg[/IMG] 1/83sec, f/5.7, ISO-500, 6/10/12 - 2:42pm. Thank you, Ely, Mark, and Prof. Tirso for the compliments. Ramon, you are right - Lowland White-eye. Mea culpa. Mark, I was not exactly sure if it got away, because RamonQ, JJQ, and I got excited seeing a Purple-throated Sunbird so close to us - 10-15 feet away.

I guess it did fly off, because when you came up from the pool, it wasn't there anymore. KGB doesn't show the Lowland White-eye with yellow-orange under the throat. My photo shows the color.

I took this series of Yellowish White-eye photos, thinking it was playing around by going from one vine to another. On processing the photos, I found out the bird was caught in a cobweb, or in a fish-hook (see protruding hook-like item), with blood on right wing. I leave it to your good judgment. Date all photos taken using Canon EOS 7D 400MM: July 27, 2012, Bato Springs Resort (before Dolores, Quezon), distance 35-45 feet, above a stream, forested. 1/512sec, f/5.7, ISO-1000, all photos tripod, AdobePhoto CS5, cropped. 1/197sec, f/5.7, iso-1000. 1/395sec, f/5.7, iso-500. 1/395sec, f/5/7, iso-500. Ely, your first photo of the beautiful Long-tailed Silky-flycatcher with the fantastic scenery really fascinated me. Not only do I admire the beauty of the birds, but also the country-side & forest scenes.

Thank you, Des, for the possible ID. By the way, would the Handsome Sunbird be the same as the Lovely Sunbird? I can't seem to find HS in the KG book.
