It's always nice to have instant image review, the ability to change the white balance after the shot, memory cards that can hold more than 36 shots, as well as the latest and greatest DSLRs and long lenses. But check out how birdshooters managed to get avian images with their ancient gear way, way back. www.birdphotographers.net/forums/content.php/152-Bird-Photography-a-look-backKinda makes me appreciate more my previous uber-modern 300D + Bigma. ;D

Hehe, looking great with your uber-modern gear there, Ka Mastah. ;D
Read that article too, and yes it's inspiring to see yesteryears' photographers go to great lengths and make do of the gear that was available to them to get the shot. Makes us better appreciate our inadequate gear.
I'm excited to see what future technology has to offer to the world of avian imaging.

How true, Mastah! I started with a 300D myself (silver body even) and a 300mm. Too bad all my photos taken with that combo were included in the stuff that were stolen from our home last Jan. 2010. Still, the memories remain.

I saw the photos of the bird photographers scaling the mountain-sides, and atop the trees.... turned my knees to jelly!LOL.

thanks for the article, ka romy. nothing really better than getting close to the subject, whatever the tech. new gear, however, enable us to respect more the comfort zones of our avian friends. that bigma combo still looks great! the bigma (4/3s mount) is still my primary birding lens. great reach, but takes time to master on a smaller sensor.

Nice thread Mastah, but I am slightly hurt, I am still using ancient (but still working!) gear! it came from the hands of another master, so I'm having a difficult time of letting go... (in short, i still do not have funds to upgrade )
