I took this series of Yellowish White-eye photos, thinking it was playing around by going from one vine to another. On processing the photos, I found out the bird was caught in a cobweb, or in a fish-hook (see protruding hook-like item), with blood on right wing. I leave it to your good judgment. Date all photos taken using Canon EOS 7D 400MM: July 27, 2012, Bato Springs Resort (before Dolores, Quezon), distance 35-45 feet, above a stream, forested. 1/512sec, f/5.7, ISO-1000, all photos tripod, AdobePhoto CS5, cropped. 1/197sec, f/5.7, iso-1000. 1/395sec, f/5.7, iso-500. 1/395sec, f/5/7, iso-500. Purple-throated Sunbird, 1/332sec, f/5.7, iso-800. July 27, 2012, Bato Springs. Distance 15-20 feet, forested

That's sad, Tito Poch. Did it fly away?
By the way, it's a Lowland White-Eye.

I guess it did fly off, because when you came up from the pool, it wasn't there anymore. KGB doesn't show the Lowland White-eye with yellow-orange under the throat. My photo shows the color.

It is indeed a sad plight for the bird. If only Chris was with you it would have been possible for him to remove the hook to release the bird. I hope the Purple-throated Sunbird goes to BK. I wonder if Ramon has the red flowering trees planted in his area to bring the Sunbirds in. I consider this bird the most challenging of the Sunbirds because of its 7 colors and degree of difficulty in getting them all in one picture. Well done Poch & Mabuhay.

At first I thought it was a misspelling but realized it was a fitting title when I saw the image. Very nice documentation and nice to hear the bird managed to break free.

Poor lowland white-eye, the first two pictures seem like real BIF shots, but was entangled with some kind of material. Nice documentation Tito Poch.

Thank you, Ely, Mark, and Prof. Tirso for the compliments. Ramon, you are right - Lowland White-eye. Mea culpa. Mark, I was not exactly sure if it got away, because RamonQ, JJQ, and I got excited seeing a Purple-throated Sunbird so close to us - 10-15 feet away.
