I noticed the Blue-headed Fantail above has its feathers on the head frayed up. Is this a sign of anger or defiance? I am trying to study the behavior of birds at BK Valley...Tito Poch.

Philippine Pygmy Woodpecker. I took this photo very near where we parked the cars, and the bird was perched on a small tree inside a private house & garden. Since I had a Canon EOS 7D 400mm without a tripod, I used the grill gate of the house to steady the camera. 1/790sec, 5.7, iso-500, 400mm, AdobePhoto Ashy Minivet...It was first mentioned by the group that this was a Pied Triller. Ramon identified it as Ashy Minivet. Ashy Minivet feasting on an insect.

I was finally able to get clear photos of the elusive White-breasted Waterhen (Amaurornis phoenicurus) at BK Valley, Dolores, Quezon, Philippines. I have noted that the flank, vent, undertail and uppertail coverts are rust-brown in color. Photo was taken early morning, about 6:00 am, when these birds forage for frogs, insects, and even dig out "kamote," according to a farmer in the area. When I spotted this bird, I noticed it was in company with a light brown one, which "dived" into the bushes in a split second. Per KG book, sexes are alike. Could the brown one be an immature bird? i1210.photobucket.com/albums/cc409/titopoch/IMG_4521.jpg[/IMG] I took this photo in the mountains of San Luis, Aurora Province. Am I correct in saying this is a Metallic-winged Sunbird (Aethopyga pulcherrima)? SOS pls.

On March 3, 2012, as Dion Pulan and I were at the view deck of Ramon at BK Valley, we heard, almost above us, chirping of 2-3 White-eyes, according to Dion. I tried to look for it with binoculars, but, being camouflaged in the foliage, couldn't locate the nest.
