Wow, that's the first record of a Handsome Sunbird in BK Valley and a lifer for Tito Poch! So far, we have recorded only the Flaming Sunbird and Metallic-Winged Sunbird in BK Valley and Mt. Banahaw.
Good capture, Tito Poch! The sunbird plucked the little spider out of its web.

I'm not 100% sure but it looks small and grey. It lacks any yellow bill flange that would suggest a juvenile, and also lacks white outer tail feathers and a red eye. I need to see the rump to be sure.

Thank you, Des, for the possible ID. By the way, would the Handsome Sunbird be the same as the Lovely Sunbird? I can't seem to find HS in the KG book.

Yes. Lovely Sunbird has been split in two. Lovely now refers to the Palawan birds, and Handsome to the others. If you check out photos you will see they are quite different.
