thanks marts! none taken jun. don't think its tattered but rather extremely ruffled as it just emerged from a possible "kill". we saw it dive down from the top of the electric pole straight to the grass/brushy areas, perhaps in search of food.

while on vacation in anvaya enroute to ocean adventure, i glanced upon this bird suddenly drop down to the ground from atop the electric pole. not knowing what it was, i stopped to take a look. after a few seconds it re-appeared from the grass, crossed the road and perched atop this tree stump. took some safety shots in jpeg, switched to manual exposure, switched to RAW+jpeg, moved the car a bit and finally nailed several shots. after only a few seconds, it flew away. (+40 shots taken in a matter of about 3 minutes, only 1 good one) nikon d200 + nikkor 80-400VR @ 400mm manual expsoure handheld iso 400, f8, 1/80s

thanks for the very warm re-welcome guys. on the contrary, really havent had much time to shoot. i miss all of you and our feathered friends so much. the 2 shots above were all "stolen moments". the oriole was shot right in front of the hotel we normally stay at. they wake me up each morning tweeting "take pics of me, take pics of me"....hahaha! the htoel is close by xtremely xpresso. so after i took a pic of the oriole, the "blood rush" was there and had to chance by my favorite birding spot in subic before i went home after my anvaya inspection. initially was really down as the spot was silent. after staying for close to 45 minutes, decided to head back empty-handed but the sudden shrill of the pecker made me bacltrack. amazingly, i saw close to 6 of these peckers in spot but they were all hidden in the canopy with he sun at the background. then i heard the customary pecking on another tree and was gifted by this shot.

hey romy... check out this report in luminous landscape.... www.luminous-landscape.com/reviews/cameras/5dmkiivid_cs.shtmlhere's the excerpt i wanted to warn you about if you're not aware of it yet.... "Sad to say, this story was truncated prematurely: the 5Dii 'died' in the field after moisture exposure. I was not the only one to have similar moisture–related problems on our Antarctica trip. Out of 26 5Dii's on Michael's Antarctic expedition, fully 25% failed. The camera is certainly not waterproof. Canon says just that in the manual. But it would be good if it were moisture–proof or even resistant. It does not appear to be. "
