hahaha... bob! i managed only 5 shots and so was able to go through them and post soonest.
thanks steve and luisito. given the white-eye's fondness of staying under cover, i set the camera on high ISO. am just happy it held well. some noise under the wings but i guess it's acceptable.
partner, i will be in UP again early... 630 to 7am?
cheers every one and thanks again for the comments.

unkempt feathers, round body, bulging eyes... ugly birdy indeed... am sure it would become one pretty, tiny white eye.
cheers prof gerry! good to see you posting again. you've been quiet the past months.

thanks everyone! puerto princesa is really a city in a forest. lots of potential... and i just walked the street outside my hotel. yes, even Badjao Seafront Restaurant, where the copper-throated sunbird is, is in the same street.
the hotel is Deep Forest Inn, Abueg Stree, Puerto Princesa.
i'm sure given more time, there are still a lot to be seen in the area.

hi ely! this is a very nice set. i got a chance to photgraph these beauties very close at the Philippine Eagle Center in Davao. Males and Females abound near the Lory's cage. They were stealing papaya and bananas served in the parrot's cage.

I can't remember the last time I went birding... That's why when I had a chance to visit Puerto Princesa I grabbed the opportunity. Below are the lifers I got from the trip. Copper Throated Sunbird - My flight yesterday was not till 5:50pm and to while away time, I went to the town proper, got into an internet cafe and logged into the forum. I saw Renoir's post and I was gone in no time. Went back to the hotel, unpacked my gear and found myself at Badjao Restaurant. DSC_1653 by gabsbuluran, on Flickr Camera Nikon D300S Exposure 0.003 sec (1/400) Aperture f/7.1 Focal Length 400 mm ISO Speed 320 Palawan Flowerpecker - Just outside my hotel, I saw this tiny bird basking in the sun, on top of a Star Apple tree DSC_1228 by gabsbuluran, on Flickr Camera Nikon D300S Exposure 0.001 sec (1/2000) Aperture f/7.1 Focal Length 400 mm ISO Speed 800 Spangled Drongo DSC_1598 by gabsbuluran, on Flickr Camera Nikon D300S Exposure 0.01 sec (1/100) Aperture f/5.6 Focal Length 400 mm ISO Speed 500 White Vented Shama DSC_1258 by gabsbuluran, on Flickr Camera Nikon D300S Exposure 0.01 sec (1/100) Aperture f/5.6 Focal Length 400 mm ISO Speed 800 Striped Tit Babbler DSC_1292 by gabsbuluran, on Flickr Camera Nikon D300S Exposure 0.017 sec (1/60) Aperture f/5.6 Focal Length 400 mm ISO Speed 800 White Bellied Munia - Went back for this at UP Frogs more than 5 times and I didn't get a shot at it. Was so happy to see 3 of them in Puerto Princesa, feeding with Chestnuts. DSC_1311 by gabsbuluran, on Flickr Camera Nikon D300S Exposure 0.001 sec (1/1250) Aperture f/8.0 Focal Length 400 mm ISO Speed 800 Rufous-Tailed Tailorbird DSC_1340 by gabsbuluran, on Flickr Camera Nikon D300S Exposure 0.003 sec (1/320) Aperture f/8.0 Focal Length 400 mm ISO Speed 800 All captures on tripod and gimbal support. High ISO use as I get excited to see the birds, I failed to adjust the sensitivity settings. Cheers!
