More observations:1. The swiveling/tilting screen is VGA quality and playback is superb off the screen, even in the field. The new design makes overhead and low-level shots a breeze. 2. The 5.3 fps speed is adequate, but not ideal. The 7D is better at this. However, for my needs, it seems perfectly alright. Budget-wise, the 7D costs 30T plus more, body only! :-)3. The metering, specially for static subjects is quite impressive. I stacked 2 1.4X TC's and relied on the meter and got excellent results all the time! 4. The 60D uses SD cards, so I can use the cards I have from the 450D. Too bad for those using CF Cards. 5. The grip is better for my smallish hands than the 5D2 - btw, they use the same battery. Another bad news for those using the XXD series of batteries. However, the new battery is unbelievably robust - a whole day of shooting and it was still full at the end of the day! 6. The Movie mode has manual controls for Audio too! :-) 7. It's lighter than the 5D2 - so it's better for my use. :-) 8. At last, the mode dial has a lock! Too many times I've shot my former bodies in the wrong setting coz I accidentally brushed the knob and turned it to some other setting. It cost me a shot of the Cebu Flower Pecker! This improvement, for me, is a must-have for nature photographers. Another set for your perusal:

I just gave the new EOS 60D a field test, courtesy of my friend who owns a photo shop here, and I've found that the AF system in this unit is, IMHO, better than the 5D2 that I have: Canon EOS 60D; Exposure 0.001 sec (1/2000); Aperture f/8.0; Focal Length 400 mm (Canon EF 400mm f/5.6L); ISO Speed 800; Ev +1 EV Stills: With 2X TC attached and using Live View on Bean Bag from Car window: Bare 400 mm Lens:

Ahihihi, those last two shots are killers, Ka Mastah! They do show some sort of "human" characteristics! The first say something like: "Hey Kid, come closer, I got somthin' to tell ya." The 2nd one is a devilish grin, sorta saying: "Hehehe, you wanna piece of me?" Bwahaha.
Neon: Your shot is gorgeous, too! :-)

Dear Friends and Birdnuts.
Before reading this short message, I beg your forgiveness for the rather"holier than thou" attitude this article might engender in your thoughts - that is not what this is all about. My friends, this is a wake-up call and a reality check for all of us, nothing more.
As the Christmas season approaches, I just feel the need to communicate a concern that has been nagging at me since the inception and subsequent healthy growth of this forum. To wit:
1. Most of us have spent horrendous amounts of money on camera bodies, lenses, accessories and such, in our quest to come up with better and better photos of our avian subjects - not to mention the time, effort and resources we spend to go to birding sites.
1.1 Have we ever considered Christ's message to share what we have with the less fortunate? As we spent and splurged on our passionate pursuit for excellence, did we take a portion of our extra income to help out a neighbor, a friend or even a complete stranger with their daily need to survive, or were we quick to deny their pleas for help even if we did have the resources to alleviate their situation?
1.2 Are we building up treasures in heaven while we exist here on earth? Or are we just wasting time and resources on a vain pursuit of personal glory and satisfaction without regards to Christ's message of "feeding His sheep and His lambs?"
2. It is now not just a passion, but an obsession to some birdnuts.
2.1 As this thread is addressed to the Christian brethren, have you realized that most of your time is spent on birding activities and little time for anything else? Has the pursuit of Christ been replaced by the pursuit of a "lifer" in your heart? Have we made an IDOL of this hobby, rather than making it an avenue for increasing our appreciation of the Creator, rather than the creation?
These are the two important points that I would like to share with you. Please do not think me a religious fanatic for putting this down on electronic paper for you to read and perhaps be convicted. I have done this out of love and concern for all my fellow birdnuts who claim to be Christians, but may have somehow lost their way. Consider this a "Watchman's Call" - lest He comes "like a thief in the night" and find us asleep.
All the best to you,
Bobby K.

Great capture Ka Mastah! On my monitor, the newest photo seems a bit too bright with lesser contrast than the 3rd (last) photo, which seems perfectly exposed. Do you think my monitor is a bit too bright? I've not calibrated my monitor yet, though.

Renoir, I'm just using the default "WARM" setting: 100 - 97 - 99. I'm not playing around with these values as yet. I may need a calibration tool to achieve pin-point accuracy. :-) Renoir, I'm just using the default "WARM" setting: 100 - 97 - 99. I'm not playing around with these values as yet.
