Hi Guys, We went out last week end with new members of the Cebu Ornithological Society for a short birding trip in Nug-as. We got lucky we did not join Osawa going for the Shama instead Sir Bobby and me stayed along the road and got a good view of the barbet. www.flickr.com/photos/siloy/3627741805/ 30d +100-400mm @ 400mm f6.3 1/1250 ISO 400 Cheers, Godo

Hi Elvin,
What is the name of the wetland? I can recommend this to DENR in Lanao perhaps DENR Caraga region for further monitoring of the waterbirds in your wetland. Do you have a photo of the nesting C. Egret? Thanks for sharing this information and i suggest you publish this information to Birding Asia or Forktail of Oriental Bird Club. I'll be happy to help you publish your paper.
Congratulations!!!

Hi Guys,
Steve recently commented on these photos and he identify this species as Purple-backed Starling Sturnus sturnina female not the Chestnut-cheeked Starling Sturnus philippensis. This would be the second sightings and perhaps the first photo documentation of the species in the country. The first sighting was in Tubbatha Reefs in 1991 by Arne Jensen.
Based on description and illustrations by Chris Feare and Adrian Craig 1998 from the book Helm Identification Guide Starlings and Mynas it really fits the identification of S sturnina. My friends from Wetlands Trust UK Phil Round and Stephen Rumsey also confirmed this as Purple-backed Starling S. sturnina. I’m still waiting for Arne’s comment on these photos.
Thanks,
Godo

Hello, We visit the lower portion of Mt. Timolan near Pagadian City for few days. We saw at least 42 individuals of Writhed Hornbill in a flock looking for fruiting trees. Here's the documentary shot of the both male and female Writhed Hornbill. Thanks Guys!
The bird is just steps away from the trail going to the cave entrance. Most visitors can easily find the bird or the guide will show them bird. Its just a short trip but its really nice when i saw the nesting frogmount.
Planning to go out next to Mt Timolan in Pagadian City for a short bird survey with friends. Hope we can get more Mindanao endemics this time.
Cheers,
Godo

Hello, We documented a female Chestnut-cheeked Starling in Cebu with a slightly brown and more white in the back. Which Steve (cuckooroller) says "the ID with the female S. sturnina! Sturnina has been recorded in Phils, though I think from Luzon" this is the few shot i got for the species. Hi Guys, I was in Baguio last week for the 18th annual Wildlife Conservation Society Symposium a yearly gathering of wildlife researchers, scientist, conservationist and academe. I was glad Neon attended the WCSP symposium and represented PBPF as an institution. During the institutional report Neon introduces PBPF to the rest of the participants and invited them to visits our gallery. Thanks to Neon for a very good introduction of the club. Next year’s WCSP meeting will be held in Manila (tentative venue UP Dilliman, somewhere Metro Manila or somewhere in Mindanao). Hope we can elevate this into a higher level, we can present a poster presentation about the forum showcasing some first photo documented, rediscovered and newly recorded birds species in the country. We are lucky to see for the first time the Snowy-browed Flycatcher Ficedula hyperythra and meet some WBCP member in Camp John Hay. Anyways this are the documentary shot of both male and female Snowy-browed Flycatcher. Thanks guys! It’s really a huge bird! Our friend from University of Southern Mindanao working for crocodile research in Ligwasan Marsh tells us that they also spotted a pelican in the marsh. Hope it’s the Spot-billed Pelican and I still believe they still exist.
