It looks like you were so close to the bird that you hardly had any space to maneuver. Nevertheless the results were good. Well done Neil & Mabuhay. Thank you sir. About 15 meters from the ground, almost directly overhead. I dared not move as it might fly away.

I think these are the first good pics of a perched juvenile Barred Honey Buzzard ssp steerei that some are calling Philippine Honey Buzzard. Very nice! Thank you sir! Will be glad to share this photo for your database.

...almost no superciliary ridge, eyes lateral, pigeon-headed - not Hawk-Eagle - some sort of pernisy bird. Thank you sir for lending us your expertise!

Looks like you got really close to this one again. You are not only blessed to be in a farm that's really beautiful, you are lucky pa that the birds seem to like you a lot too Neil. I really hope to visit that farm one of these days with the rest of the gang. Wonderful set you've got here. Looking forward to seeing more birds from your area. Thank you! This was another chance encounter; was walking through a wooded lane when a shadow swept past my path. I knew at once that it was a raptor. Moving really slowly, I looked up at saw it eyeballing me. Another heart-pounding moment! Hope to see you guys here soon; Telyds has the dates/rates, etc... ;D

hmm, des thinks it is an immature barred honey-buzzard and i think he's right. note the unfeathered tarsi in the last pic. congrats on documenting this possible endemic raptor! I guess that settles it's identity: it's an immature Philippine Honey Buzzard!

Having seen the perched up juv Barred Honey Buzzard elsewhere, I think this bird is the same. The head is pigeon-like, and the breast has those teardrop black marks. The legs look rather weak and if I zoom in on them it looks like the feathering doesn't go fully down to the feet. I am quite certain this is the same bird that I photographed while perched.

I think you got "annoyensis race" right sir. These birds "decorate" my side mirrors with their poop every morning

This is a difficult shot to expose with the tree branch, the sky and the multi colored birds all needing a different exposure. Tough shot but you seem to have balanced it decently between the bird on the right with the bright sun and the bird on the left in the shade. More pictures from Bukidnon please. More photos coming up! About the exposure thing, it's still mostly a mystery to me... ;D

Look at the beautiful blue sky. You got the Blue-throated Bee-eater just like the ones in Subic. Well done Neil & Mabuhay. Thank you sir. Hope you can visit us soon.

Beautiful colors indeed!
I was able to get quite close to the Farm's SKF but it was in the shade so the colors did't really "pop" the way it did in these photos...

Great shots! Tonji and I saw and photographed Oriental Honeybuzzards also in Bukidnon. Hope you get a Philippine Eagle next!!! There's a newly reported Phil Eagle nesting site we'll be checking out this summer. The Philippine Eagle in the wild will really be something!
