Was walking the farm when this flew right at me! I followed the direction where it went and crouched down. Moments later, it reappeared and perched about 15 m in front of me! It was all I could to to focus and try to keep the camera steady. ;D ISO 1600, 1/60s @ f/8 Handheld All almost full frame

Amazing photos. Your heart must have been beating so fast !!! Good thing you were able to take fantastic shots even if it was handheld. If it were me, for sure most of the shots would be blurred from too much excitement. Happy for you :-)

If it were me, for sure most of the shots would be blurred from too much excitement. Happy for you :-) My heart was beating like a drum! It's the largest bird I've encountered in the wild so far. To have something that big fly right at you is really something else! It's good I made it a habit to always happen to have my camera with me. ;D

What an excellent shot! You truly deserve to be in the Certified Bird Nuts Group. It is like your "baptism" photo. Yeah, NiKo, I could hear your heart beating in your text message. Ha, ha. The farm is really a wonderful place to take a vacation and do easy birding. Start having the cottages fixed. telyds

Oriental Honey Buzzard. What a strange sounding name but very nice to look at. Beautiful capture and it would be nicer if you were to size it to a bigger 1200 pixels width. Well done Neil & Mabuhay.

I though as well sir. It must have come from its habit of raiding wild honey bee colonies. The locals follow this bird when they're out looking for honey in the forest.

Great shots. Extremely rarely photographed in the Philippines. I looked in my DB and found only one other, a subadult from Luzon.

Nice find Neil. You must have some ninja powers for the bird not to see you. Truly an exhilarating birding experience that we Filipino birders always dream of.
