This bird is really beautiful with its color combination that is unimaginable. The back of its shoulder and head is basically black with spots of iridescent silver on it. The chest has bluish black feathers and the vent and part of the throat is white. The throat itself is more yellowish. The nostrils are light rufous and the lores are white. The highlight is the pair of bright orange legs and feet. I can't help but marvel at God's unimaginable creations. I took a lot of pictures of the Silvery Kingfisher (Alcedo argentata) because of the bird's beauty and the opportunity of being able to do so even if it was about 20 meters away. All the pictures were taken with a 1.4X TC. Canon EOS 1D Mark IV, Canon EF 800mm f5.6L IS USM, Gitzo GT3530LS tripod, Wimberley WH200 head. Manual exposure in available light. 1/200 sec., f/8, ISO 1600 1/400 sec., f/8, ISO 1600 1/400 sec., f/8, ISO 1600 1/400 sec., f/8, ISO 1600 1/200 sec., f/8, ISO 1600 1/250 sec., f/8, ISO 1600 1/250 sec., f/8, ISO 1600 1/250 sec., f/8, ISO 1600 1/250 sec., f/8, ISO 1600 1/250 sec., f/8, ISO 1600 1/250 sec., f/8, ISO 1600 1/400 sec., f/8, ISO 1600 1/400 sec., f/8, ISO 1600

Beautiful colors indeed!
I was able to get quite close to the Farm's SKF but it was in the shade so the colors did't really "pop" the way it did in these photos...

Excellent captures, as always! I really love the colors of this bird. Thank you Ariel. I went to Bohol for the Trogons and this was my consolation bird. Tirso was there recently and he had a feast taking pictures of the male Trogon. I hope I get a chance for a feast like that.

This Kingfisher is just beautiful. I wish to be able to photograph is beauty on a natural perch someday. You showed the habitat well here. Well done, Ely.

I like photo #8, the one with the fish! Thank you Sylvia. I like that one too. According to Felix that is a shrimp that it was able to capture from the river.

Wow! So this is what we missed in Rajah Sikatuna River and we did miss a lot. We went to the the same area with Ryan the first day, Felix the second day but it only flew by and we did not really see the details. Your photos more than compensate for what we failed to capture in pictures. Thanks Ely for the share.

I really like the Silvery KF also Ely. Great bird. I am sure the trogons will pose for you on another day Ely. As Tirso said it is one of the most beautiful bird and I agree with him. The last time I was there on February, there was no call or sighting at all. I am hoping that your prediction will come true on my next trip to Bohol. Thank you Tonji.

When I saw your Silvery I miss Bohol. All your photos of Kingfisher are very nice but I like the last photo of Silvery Kingfisher.
