Thank you, Sir Ely. You know you are most welcome to visit the place anytime as they are active the whole year round. It seems like Alain's coaching on cropping and composition has paid dividends as everyone likes that adjusted crop the most! It is a good thing that I followed him Thank you, Alain!

its a Kenko 2x NA Teleplus Macro sir. A really old model from my film days. You just twist it like a zoom lens and you have a Macro, twist it back, and it is a TC.
I have tried it before and I was ok with stabilizing my camera. Stabilizing the subject is another challenge specially outdoors as the slightest movement really messes it up.

my TC doubles up as an extension tube. But it kills everything, meaning full manual, not even a reading on the meter, exif records aperture as 0.
Stabilization, I think that's going to be the keyword. I will try this sometime.

lets set it up on a saturday. The place is perfect for short (in birder's terms) lenses as the herons are really near. Alain and Denz has expressed intent to go there. I will be more than happy to accompany you guys there too. Wish for a drizzling early saturday morning and when the sun comes up at about 8 or 9 am.. birds preen

Thank you DocChito, the bittern was also a delight to watch. My D90 is no match for its speed in catching fish. When it darted its head into the water, caught a fish and pulled back.. it was really in a blink of an eye. Thanks Denz, you might want to try the BIFs in valenzuela with Alain? Sir Bobby, thank you so much for the generous comment.

Thank you so much, Alain for the words of wisdom. Yes the last pic was shot against the light, not the best situations but I had to make do as going to the other side of the bird would have needed a boat And your experience shows a lot with the comment on the crop. Yes, cropping it wider would have necessitated a lot of PP to drown the distracting plants and the sun's reflection on the water. Only with your critique did I try out another crop with lots of PP.. How does this one look? As for the bif with too busy background.. these shots are a part of a short review of the new nikkor 200-400 f4. I chose that one to try and illustrate how the focus was still locked on the flyer even with a starkly contrasting item in the bg. Thank you again, Alain. Others, please. I ask for C&C

I have been waiting for the cuckoo in UPD for a few weeks now.. but no luck. Not even a sighting. And here you are, posting an incredibly detailed image of it with diet behavior included. You truly are the master of this art, Mastah.

Hi Doc! Not knowing anything about the other equipment, what I did was looked away then looked at both for comparison. I like the colors of the first one better.

Was planning to hit the coastal lagoon today to test the 200-400 on bifs but rains stopped me. Then the sun suddenly showed itself and I immediately thought.. "The swamphen will preen!" And so it did.. Purple Swamphen (Porphyrio porphyrio) - Valenzuela Camera: Nikon D90 Exposure: 0.001 sec (1/1250) Aperture: f/5.6 Focal Length: 400 mm ISO Speed: 800 and of course the BIF shots on the BCNHs coming towards me.. Camera: Nikon D90 Exposure: 1/4000 sec Aperture: f/5.6 Focal Length: 400 mm ISO Speed: 720 flying left to right.. Camera: Nikon D90 Exposure: 1/4000 sec Aperture: f/5.6 Focal Length: 400 mm ISO Speed: 500 and flying right to left.. Camera: Nikon D90 Exposure: 1/4000 sec Aperture: f/5.6 Focal Length: 400 mm ISO Speed: 500 and of course with a busy background.. (experimental square crop to include the mature BCNH in the bg) Camera: Nikon D90 Exposure: 1/2500 sec Aperture: f/5.6 Focal Length: 400 mm ISO Speed: 800 Then I moved on to other locations and was able to get a nice yellow bittern shot that I like Camera: Nikon D90 Exposure: 0.002 sec (1/500) Aperture: f/5.6 Focal Length: 400 mm ISO Speed: 320 All shots were handheld. Thank you for looking and C&C on all shots will be greatly appreciated!

I still vividly remember the day I went there to photograph and meet my lifers.
The OBS, Telyds and propJery, all I saw for the first time. The OBSs were sooooo so friendly, must have taken after their host.
Beautiful and moving images Telyds! Thanks for sharing! Seeing them after the long office day makes it easier to relax.
