Hi Romy, I have shot with a 2x on the 600mm. AF is slower.
That bird held that pose for the longest time. It was so unusual. Join us in Batangas when you are finally free.

I am spending most of my time in Batangas. I am finally finding the time to photograph the birds we have in the area. This bird was gripping the branch with one leg, in an unusual Karate Kid pose. WHITE BROWED SHAMACopsychus luzoniensisMt. Makiling, Los BaƱos, Philippines March 11, 2014 We had such poor light. The clouds and rainy conditions in Mt. Makiling were not ideal. I did not bring my tripod yesterday so picture quality was a big concern. I don't really like handholding. But this bird hopped into this wonderful perch and I just tried my best. It is not often I get such a nice view of this bird with the chestnut marking on the back showing nicely. Canon 5dmk3, 300mm f2.8, 1.4x tc, 1/20, f5, ISO 4000 handheld

SAND MARTINRiparia ripariaFeb 2014 Malalag, Davao del Sur, Philippines According to the Kennedy Guide this bird is a rare migrant. This is only the second time I have seen this species. Thanks Pete Simpson for bringing us all the way to the site and giving us a chance to get a better picture of this fast flying little bird. 5dmk3, 600mm, 1.4xtc, 1/4000, f9, ISO500

Thanks Mark. I like walking around with my compact 70-300. It works quite well. I do hope the new 100-400L rumored to come out has the same design.

Thanks Ely, sometimes we don't have to travel far to get entertained. This was just beside our cottage. I see these birds every morning. But I have never seen ets try to poach some bugs.

Such an interesting bird Nilo. We saw it a few times and got some photos. But I do hope to see it with the crest up like in the book. It always had the crest down. Cool that you got the eye ring detail and color despite the backlight.

Wow, great shot Bong.
The poor crab almost seems to be looking at you. Too bad about that leaf on the left. But still very nice, looks like you had to go thru a bunch of twigs to get the shot. Well done.

Congrats on this lifer William. This is such a great tree. I planted quite a few in our place. I am going to have to wait a long time before I get any birds on them.

Cool shot mike. Is the bird on the grass? Everything melted except the bird. Interesting effect.
