Philippine Eagle Pithecophaga jefferyiEven if you've seen it before, the Philippine Eagle is a stunning sight! It is a powerful flier. We would like to thank fellow Wild Bird Club of the Philippines (WBCP) member Pete Simpson for being so generous with his time and giving me, Tonji, and Christian Perez this goosebump-inducing, heart-pounding experience! I don't know if anyone of us was even breathing while the Philippine Eagle flew in front of us. This was in Mt. Apo in Davao. Ely yes it was a great treat. We are still feeling quite elated. We have photographed so many birds but thinking about this one just makes me shake my head and smile.

Thank you so much for the comments! This was one of those great moments of being in the right place at the right time moments. We were actually in Davao to look for some other birds!

Thanks William, Mick and Clemn.
The view was heart stopping for many reasons. The eagle was magnificent and seemed interested in us enough to swing by really close. Coolest thing.
The other reason for my stress was my 2xtc rendered my autofocus useless for a bird in flight against a forest background. I had to go old school and use manual focus. Imagine seeing such a spectacle of flight and having to manually focus and trust my hand and eye to focus on a moving target. The stress was indeed heart stopping.
I was worried about the quality of the images until I finally sat down in front of my big monitor to view the files. I am glad it worked out. If my photos were rubbish I would be blaming myself for a long time.

Thanks so much to everyone for the comments! Thank you Romy Ocon! Nice to hear from you!!
I showed the pics to my parents, and I felt I had to explain that these are pics of Philippine Eagles in the wild, unlike the pictures that are used in things like ads, posters, and t-shirts which are pics of a captive bird. So it's nice to be able to share with people who already appreciate the difference!
