Woohoo! Congrats, Godo! Love how the purple plumage contrasts with the green environment.

No fairy tale from this afternoon's attempt to see and photograph the aptly-named Fairy Pitta (Pitta nympha) -- a vagrant that has captivated many a birder's eye and shutter finger over the last few days -- as the subject was a no-show. This Greater Racket-tailed Drongo (Dicrurus paradiseus), a common resident who somehow lost one if its distinctive tails, was kind enough to console me for my troubles. It's always a challenge to image these birds thanks to their dark and glossy plumage which can make exposure a nightmare and their long tails which make composition tricky. I got lucky today. Awesome captures, Martin. Good that you're still keeping "sane" chasing feathers.

Found some time to chase features over the weekend. This fellow kept its distance so I had to slap a 2x TC and shoot at 1200mm at f/8, which didn't help with the fading light and I had to shoot at ISO 6400. Javan Pond Heron ( Ardeola speciosa) Singapore, 22 Mar 2020 1DX, 600/4 II + 2x III, 1200mm, ISO 6400, f/8, 1/400s, manual exposure, Sirui 5214X + Benro GH2

It's been forever since the last time I got to chase feathers, and I'm so glad to finally have the chance today. I went out to image the Common Kingfisher, but didn't get a shot I like. I had better luck on our other friends, thankfully. White-breasted Waterhen ( Amaurornis phoenicurus) Satay by the Bay, Singapore | 5 Oct 2019 1DX + 600/4 II + 1.4x III, 840mm, ISO 1600, f/5.6, 1/800, manual exposure, Sirui R-5214X + Benro GH-2

Amazing, Ka Mastah! It seems the compact (by birding standard) RX10, in the right hands, is very capable indeed.

I made another attempt tonight at Earth's only satellite. Conditions were a bit better than last night. I wanted to get as much reach as I can so I picked a body that had the smallest pixels. I'm still bummed that the 2X III TC doesn't allow for stacking another TC behind it. Image below is a full frame capture cropped only on the left side for a 5:4 aspect ratio. A6500 + Metabones Mark V + EF 2x III + EF 2x II + EF 500/4, 2000mm, ISO 100, f/22 (effective), 1/60s, manual exposure, manual focus, Sirui R-5214X/Benro GH2 Singapore, 20 Feb 2019

Thank you, Bobby! Good thing I went out yesterday for this and got the chance to shoot it. Report is that last night, it was rescured by ACRES Wildlife Rescue so that it can be given proper medical attention.

This little guy is the Lion City birding community's incumbent center of attraction, a young Collared Kingfisher afflicted with albinism (it was initially thought that the condition was leucism). Unable to sustain prolonged flight, the frail fella spent most of its time still on the ground, affording eager photographers ample opportunity to squeeze the shutter to their heart's delight. Without having the need for fast and reliable autofocus, this gave yours truly a chance to try out an adapted combo: a Sony A7RII mounted to a Canon EF 500mm f/4L. Collared Kingfisher ( Todiramphus chloris) East Coast Park, Singapore, 30 Jun 2018 A7RII, EF 500 f/4 + 2x II + Metabones Mark V, 1000mm, f/9, ISO 1600, 1/320s, manual focus, manual exposure, Sirui R-5214X + Benro GH1 support

Hey Mick. Hope you enjoy your stay. I would love to meet you but I will be flying out tonight and won't be back until next week. Yup, you can find a lot of species at the Botanic Gardens. You might be able to see the Band-bellied Crake, which is rare in Singapore. Band-bellied Crake ( Porzana paykullii) Botanic Gardens, 24 Feb 2018 1DX, 500/4, 500mm, ISO 6400, f/4, 1/250s, manual exposure, handheld
