Was very lucky to capture this bird during my recent trip to Alcoy, with Osawa San: Nikon D500 with Nikkor 200-500 f/5.6 ED; ƒ/5.6 @ 500.0 mm; 1/500 Sec.; ISO 6400 - No Flash; Re-sized for Web: Cebu Black Shama (Female) by Grandpa@50, on Flickr We went on to Balisasayao, in Negros, for more birding and I will post the birds I captured there in another post. Hope you like this! Bobby K.

If we forget for a moment that this is an endemic rarity, the capture still astounds - excellent detail, lovely background, great pose and pleasing comp.
Hands down the best shot of this species I've seen, congrats Ka Bobby!!!

The narrowish DOF and the precise placement of critical focus on the head area give the image a lot of pop and produces an amazing 3D effect.
You've taken a lot of outstanding avian images for over a decade now, Ka Bobby and many of those are my favorites. But this capture rises above them all because of the rare combo of great technicals, aesthetics and rarity of the bird.
You should print this large and hang it on your choicest wall spot.
