Wow. Ramon. Those are beautiful and sharp shots. It looks like you are getting the hang of your heavy gear. Like Ely, you have to use it to the max and BK is the place to be. Forest birds are more challenging and with the luxury of a good habitat, you can really stay put and not be envious of Candaba. It's more fun in BK Valley! Oh, how I miss my second home!

Good for the owls. Hu, hu, hoot, hoot! That's good news for now. Sleep Noah. There's still a boat to build. By the way, are you following the specs in the Bible? It says somewhere that it took 120 years to build... now you can cry. ;(

From what I learned from Korean epics... Peja... (bowing to the Emperor) your photos are fantastic. I love the backdrop of the first one, too. See, without the rain you can't get that. Praise God for the rain! (not too much, though). I heard from a birder that mayayabang daw mga bird photographers, some daw... alam ko na, rusty Nikonites lang yun. he, he. telyds

Oh, what a show! I will call you now as an Owl Magnet. I guess soon I will have access to your compound without taking you away from your week-end woodwork. Ms. Annie of Cravings is asking assistance in setting up a butterfly sanctuary somewhere close to the hooters. She was thinking of a netted one but I will propose an open bird and butterfly garden. If there's more space, maybe Neon and I can set up a tree nursery for the watersheds??? We are looking for a home in the city for thousands of seeds and wildlings we have in our hands to care for until ready for planting. telyds

Oh, the balete tree is fruiting, a month early! There should be some trushes and nuthatches. I had been monitoring this balete tree and the last time was Feb. with Rey. I like the orange-bellied flowerpecker. I have not seen that in BK. Most baletes are fruiting now. Happy for you, Ramon! lyd

Wow, what a gallery of beautiful birds. There is an invitation for me butterfly watch with a friend in the Eastern Himalayas, hopefully in 2012. In one area, my contact documented more than 200 species of butterflies, mostly rare or newly discovered. For sure birds abound, too. Thanks for sharing. lyd

Welcome, Alex! Are you by any chance related to birdwatcher (WBCP) Justice Pronove of VV5 and Bae, Laguna? I remember him telling me that he has a property in Puerto Princesa, close to the airport. lydia

Hi Neil, Great shots. I'd like to ask permission if I can download the fruiting fig tree so I can have it identified. Can I post it in the plant group? I will give you the credits. telyds

How can healing not be fast? Nature has a way of soothing the tired body and is always there to cheer up the soul. Your photos are superb, consistently superb like the Ka Mastah! I see the cameo appearances of the bees (?) and the dragonfly which I seldom see in postings in this forum. The mirror image of the wagtail, the dewdrops, the habitat ... ye, you very well delivered the joy of the season, the birth of the Creator. A blessed Christmas to you Prof. Tirso and your loved ones and the members of this Forum. Lots of cheerps, lyd

Another Christmas, another year, will it be the same as before?
Sharing with you a timely message.
"You haven't found your way in life until you've found Jesus, and you won't fully find yourself until you find Him. Look what happened to these shepherds after they made time and room for Him. Jesus has so much for you to see of Himself; He has so much to tell you and teach you in His Word. Lowly shepherds speedily sought to find the newborn Savior, and their seeking was richly rewarded. So will yours be." "Now when they had seen Him, they made widely known the saying which was told them concerning this Child. And all those who heard it marveled at those things which were told them by the shepherds." (Luke 2:17, 18) "Ask, and it will be given to you; seek, and you will find; knock, and it will be opened to you. For everyone who asks receives, and he who seeks finds, and to him who knocks it will be opened." (Matthew 7:7, 8)
For the coming new year I am gifting myself with the WORD IN LIFE BIBLE, expensive for a book one would say, but it is actually a cheap gear to own compared to our SLRs and lenses. After watching so many birds, it is my lifetime goal to know more about a GREAT BIRDWATCHER, whose birthday we always celebrate.
A BLESSED CHRISTMAS TO ALL MY FRIENDS HERE IN PBPF.
reJOY-SING, telyds

Hi Ramon, A bird call will help the HP come out but make sure that the bird is not stressed out. Personally, it is better to just wait after a few calls, just to know if it's around. It will answer back. You will know how far it is from where you are. It might be in a territory where it watches for its mate. If it hears the bird call, it will leave its territory and that may affect their "tryst" . It also may leave its nest to seek the call and may expose the eggs/chicks to predators while it is far away. The HP, if close, responds with a call and appears right away. So the lodge is ready. Please send your tariff to my e-mail address. Regards to Dion and brood. I have not heard from them for quite sometime. lydia

From day 1 that we had been to BK Valley, the call of the HP could be heard though we could not see it. Pittas love to wander in areas with lots of rotting leaf litters to forage on worms. Yes, Ramon, it will not be a surprise if you see it below the viewing deck. By the stairs, too, there are a lot of leaf litters. They come out often to look for food to feed the young. Maybe this is the season. Neon's HP was in Corregidor Island. That was an easy one for him. I'm sure that you will have your wish granted soon. Keep watching! lyd PS. I miss BK already.

Yeah, nakakagimbal! The first one is like from an artist's brush. The second is not a wagging wagtail. The third is the wagging wagtail and the last the wandering, wondering wagtail. There have been many posts of this celebrity migrant. The targets and the arrows may be the same, but the injuns have different stretches. all nice. telyds

That's a nice macro shot, Neil. Wow, you can get very close and it is in the open. This maybe a male Delias d. The female I think has more white. Ah, I am glad I have found a butterfly friend in MF. Maybe next year, I can arrange a trip and make up for previous butterflyless trips.
Neil, there is a tree in the Golf Club that looks like a fire tree but the bloom is blue. It did not have seed pods then but can you please check out for me? I'd appreciate very much. And please send my regards to your tokayo Neil Abejuela. We go to the same church. Just mention the butterfly lady and he'll remember. Cheerps, lyd.
