Sighhhhh your photos of the U.P Diliman birds are fantastic. You should be the star photographer of the Vargas Museum exhibit Mando. Ask Romy to teach you about printing - Romy is such a nice person and so very willing to help people out (Idol Romy, don't forget my embutido this coming xmas ha - LOL !!! HAhAHAhAHahAHahAha sorry couldn't resist). Your photos seem to bring out the beauty in every bird that you photograph in that area - something that I haven't been able to achieve Looks like I won't be able to join the vargas museum exhibit since I don't have a single acceptable shot of any bird from UPD - another sigh for me Bravo Mando for all the fantastic shots !!!! More.. more... more please

@mam tina and sir ding and sir rey thanks for your kind words, means alot to me. those sunbirds are tricky to catch in good light, these are my best in hundred shots spanning 2months. i don't know if my pics are good enough for large prints. maybe they are good enough for sizes like those in fisher's field guide. just an idea, why don't we come up with a field guide for UP birds... and for the exhibit, "shock and awe" as suggested by master romy. @sir martin, the number of birds are abit at a low but just this morning java sparrow was seen and confirmed by prop jerry.

I got one!!...he he he out of more or less 50 shots ;D Doc Mando and I were at Hardin yesterday hoping to capture the 8 Java Sparrows reported by Profgerry to be present in one of the rice field, foraging on the secondary rice that sprouted from the harvested stalks. Unfortunately only ETS, CBM and SBM were present. We vented out our frustrations by shooting the Pacific swallows that were swooping down on the pond's surface. Here's the one and only acceptable shot I got. Pacific Swallow ( Hirundo tahitica) 40D + 300mm f4 IS, f4, 1/1250 sec, ISO 200, Manual Exposure, Handheld. I went back in the afternoon and went out on the paddies again. Unfortunately I slipped, with no way to break my fall but through my recuperating injured knee....well, I was supposed to go back there today but instead I'm at home ;D See you guys tomorrow!!

Thanks Mastah, Tina and Rey - this was the first legitimate birding sortie on this parole schedule, was busy doing things and resting my injuries I'll be sent back to prison in a few days. AM is the best time to go at Hardin, but there is also no problem if you want to stay the whole day as some species roost at particular trees and are found only during midday to afternoon.
