I am preparing for my next magazine article and I was thinking about Villa Escudero the Home of the Indigo-banded Kingfisher. Equipped with a new mirror box assembly that is responsible for the fast and accurate focussing of the camera, I was delighted that I did not encounter any focussing problems. The camera and lens performed very well and I think I have several keepers. I would like to request that you rate the top 3 photographs that you will see here, selecting what you think I should use for my next article. Canon EOS 1D Mark IV, Canon EF 800mm f5.6L IS USM, Gitzo GT3530LS tripod, M-3.6 Mongoose Gimbal Action Head. Manual exposure in available light. 1/50 sec., f/5.6, ISO 1600 1/60 sec., f/5.6, ISO 1600 1/60 sec., f/5.6, ISO 1600 1/200 sec., f/5.6, ISO 1600 1/200 sec., f/5.6, ISO 1600 1/250 sec., f/5.6, ISO 1600 1/250 sec., f/5.6, ISO 1600 1/200 sec., f/5.6, ISO 1600 1/100 sec., f/5.6, ISO 1600 1/100 sec., f/5.6, ISO 1600 1/100 sec., f/5.6, ISO 1600 1/80 sec., f/5.6, ISO 1600

For your convenience at the top of the thread, on the upper right hand corner, there is a box that says "Add Poll", click on that and fill up one to three only. After filling up the first three, there is a box on the bottom of the same page select and click "Add Poll".

Excellent set, Ely! I would go with the last 2 photos. For magazines where photos are usually small, I think that bird photos should be cropped to just show the bird.

All captures are to die for, Ely. Honestly, I have difficulty picking out the best as all of them are excellent.

Thank you Tirso, I could not be more please with what you said, but due to limited space I still have to select from this group of pictures and the first time that I went to Villa Escudero. I will have to study them more carefully. Heh heh.

I happen to come across a thread that was posted late June 2010. It was titled the elusive Indigo-banded Kingfisher. Tonji could not believe that I would go back for the same bird 5 times. I was hoping than that Mela would divert the flow of the water. She did and look at the difference it made. Thank you Mela and you can be certain that the article will highlight the most popular bird of Villa Escudero. Here is the thread for anyone who is interested to see how it was than for me to photograph this bird and now. birdphotoph.proboards.com/index.cgi?board=photo&action=display&thread=5913

Thank you William. It might be of interest for you to know that my camera was not focusing well. It would take a couple of precious seconds for the focus to lock after going back and forth a couple of times. The mirror box assembly that has the auto focusing mechanism was defective and replaced. It is now working very well and focusing accurately.

all photos are great sir! You can put that all in the magazine. Thank you Onnie. The magazine can only print a limited amount of pictures as they have to allocate the space for other articles.
