Hi gang, Birding lenses are also decent astro lenses because of the long reach. I enjoy practicing long lens and manual focus techniques at the moon, and here's sharing a lunar shot. ;D Shooting detail - 40D + Sigmonster + Canon 2x TC, 1600 mm, f/18, 1/40 sec, ISO 250, manual focus via Live View, 475B/3421 support, September 4, 2007 at Paranaque City. Crater Copernicus (upper right of center, circa 93 km diameter) dominates the frame in this moonshot taken with the 40D's Live View. The mountain range from left bottom corner to center is Montes Apenninus, while the crater at the mountains' end (center) is Eratosthenes (58 km). At lower left are three fairly large craters - Archimedes (largest, 83 km), Aristillus (middle size, 55 km) and Autolycus (39 km). Now, let's see your moonshots too! Romy

Yo, Reyno, I think there's something wrong with the link, or maybe it's daytime on the boards now. Hehehe. Please check your message my friend. :-)

Thanks Idol Romy, here's another one using my Meade ETX90 Another nice one, Nestor! Do you have a tracking mount on the ETX90? Can you mount your DSLR on it? That should be a mean astro shooter (or even at Tufted Ducks in the middle of the big pond at Candaba). Romy

One I took last year while shooting shore birds @ Playalinda in Cape Canaveral, Florida. Great detail, Reyno! Is Cape Canaveral the place where they launch the shuttle? If so, that should be awesome to shoot with a 500 f4 + 1.4x... Romy

Beautiful and well preserved place with lots of opportunities to shoot. Btw, I had a chance to shoot with Gil Tuzon on Friday and we went to Joe Overstreet Landing. Great guy and a lovely wife to boot. Too bad Canaveral was closed for the week due to a scheduled shuttle launch. But he's planning to come back sometime in the spring during the breeding season. Thanks Romy.

I'm thinking of something longer than the Sigmonster for mid-pond water birds. Size/weight aren't issues, as we'll be shooting from a fixed position....

Farmer Nestor, funny we have similar optics Bigma and ETX90 I've already removed my etx' tube from its auto tracking mount and using it now as a spotting scope. Here's a sample which I think is 'more stable' than leaving it on its autotracking mount. downsized+USM|'full frame' ETX901250mm/f13|ISO1600|1/300|KM5D

Nice moon, Moises.... have you tried your ETX90 at birds? BTW, we do allow larger photo sizes if the poster so wishes....
