Master, it's ok - that's the standard size I'm using so I can post it on all forums I actively participate on. The ETX will need a "cleaner sensor" than what my KM7D or KM5D can deliver... the A700 or A200 are very good candidates but I need to wait for one of my bodies to die first before I can upgrade At ISO1600, the ETX is very noisy compared to Bigma which I can actually use even at ISO3200. I shall try it again next time if I get the chance. A very good tripod mount may help in the process. BTW, ETX' aperture is f/13 and it actually has very good optics for a very light and short spotting scope (Mak-Cas design).

I woke up to clear dawn skies and a nice moon this morning. Too lazy to set up the Sigmonster, I snapped a Canon 2x TC on the 100-400 IS to make 800 mm and used the 40D's Live View to focus manually.

Read up stuff about the Moon on the Net and mapped out my 1st moonshot.... Waning Crescent Moon Map (incomplete) While identifying the places on the moon, I could hear ringing voices in my head saying: GEEK!!! GEEK!!! GEEK!!!

PAGASA forecasts clearer skies ahead, as the wind has shifted to easterly from northeasterly. Here's a moonshot from last night. ;D

Hehehe. With that amount of information, I'm sure anyone will go cross-eye labeling those locations. Hoping to get closer shots of the moon someday. 300mm is just not enough.

Thanks, Sir Neon. But you've got 2 TCs on that one. ;D I'm also actually thinking of getting a TC for my 70-300 VR (the cheapest way to extend reach for me), but hesitating due to the toll on the IQ. I tried a 1.4x Kenko once at a shop. It's nice because AF is retained. I just wasn't able to review up close the images I took and now I couldn't find them in my PC. Hmmm... Hehehe. Wow, Tina.... that's not a plain moon, but a nicely catalogued lunar real estate! Great shot. Taken last night. Labeled with the help of a moon map and got crossed eyed in the process of doing so ;D Nice shot too, Bong!

thanks mastah.. here's a larger version. not as sharp as i expected probably because of the stacked TCs or my focusing was off by a tick.. didn't use live view as i don't want my sensor exposed for long periods of concentrated brightness.. will try it next time..
