Great shot, April! Whoa, makes me green with envy. beautiful composition and details + bokeh. Now we have two women bird photographers serious with their craft (of course everyone knows who the other one is). Go ladies! Lyd

nice shot! what kind of bird is it? i believe its a barn swallow. anyone confirm this? thanks! Hi April, You've got a very good copy of that lens, sharp capture!! nice timing on the pose and good composition. If the Pacific swallow ranges where you took this picture I'll say it's a Pacific swallow.

Excellent, April..... love the head turn! Where was it captured? here in vancouver, canada. went out for a walk to the dyke. it was hard to keep up with them. hay...i was reading the threads and yes, 400mm is a start but one would really yearn for more.. something longer like a 600mm or 800mm! looks like i have to keep cropping to get closer!

Great first shot, April. Congratulations! I'm sure you were not born on June. Kidding aside, I'm from Calgary, Alberta just a 12-hour drive from your place.
