Below are 2 birds that I chanced upon in Baguio. Both were taken in the wild. Sorry for the poor captures Please help identify .... Thanks in advance Is this an Olive Tree Pipit ? No idea at all but this is one big bird. I actually thought it was a big white owl at first and got so excited (that's the reason for the poor captures).

Hi Tina, Great catch!! the second pic is an escapee, a female White or Umbrella Cockatoo just guessing the SN Cacatua alba female because of the redish iris. The 1st one looks like the Olive-backed Pipit Anthus hodgsoni in our collection Cheers, Neon

Agree with Neon on the first one, Tina.
The second one looks like a white morph Crow? ;D ;D ;D (just pulling the leg of the White Coucal specialist, hehe.)
It's bill looks parrot-like to me, could be an escapee.

Oh what a beautiful morning! Nice pipit there Tina, idol- and the JALOSJOS bird, looks like a parrot I caught years ago in our backyard which I gave to my neighbor to care for. I was not interested in birds that time.

Okie Dokie. Thanks guys Omigosh, could the second bird be the rare Philippine Cockatoo? !!!! I just checked the KG, and although the PC is primarily a lowland forest bird, it can also be found "high in the mountains." Let's wait for Steve to butt in. Meantime, if you've other pics, that might help our expert ID guy.... ;D Romy

Hi Guys, Will look later today. At first glance, the Pipit does look hodgsoni. Will put the Cacatua under scrutiny - too bad only one photo.
Bookmarking - I still have to look at this Cacatua.

Hi Tina, The Cockatoo: Yes, I agree with those seeing this as Cacatua alba. C. haematuropygia can be eliminated because of the length of the crest (too much crest in this bird), because of the color of the bill and the sere, among other things. Another escape!!!
