Wow.... nice shots Manny, congrats on the gifted daughter! I'd guess that a D3 (at ISO 12800) would be the perfect body for this situation.

Beautiful Manny. I'm sure these are difficult shots becuase of the low light condition. Good job Manny.

thanks for the kind words, ed, romy and rey! yes romy, i've been pining for the d3 especially for this type of photography except that i just don't have the funds for one. when i have the time, i'll post shots of my daughter. the ballerinas above are from the ballet philippines company, teacher carissa in white and teacher carla in blue. they're both very talented.... carissa's facial expression is top notch and you could feel and see the emotion. you're spot on rey, it's very tricky as the light changes every moment.... one needs to feel the music too as it gives hints of what the dancer may do next. this is precisely the reason why i invested in fast glass. and as romy hinted, perhaps to move on to the d3. tradeoff is that i lose a bit of range from cropped-sensor but get high iso and dynamic range. but a steep price!

Great shots Manny! How I miss shooting this kind of events. Lighting condition is very challenging indeed.
