Sunny but cold on todays trip to London Wetlands ( not far from Heathrow Airport) on another try-out with a new lens. This Great-crested Grebe came unusually close - a bit too near really. 7D, 1/2000 at f/4.0, ISO 200. 500 mm f4L II, Tripod. The Grey Heron is my favorite. You must be having a blast with your 500mm. Well done Mick & Mabuhay.

Thanks a lot Ely. Yes the new lens is going to be great fun If only I still had my late lamented MK 1V to go with it. By the time I decided to replace it Canon had discontinued them!Maybe I'll find a good used one .
Happy birding
