Just to start this board, let me post a couple of photos of flowerpeckers taken at Mt. Makiling recently. Our resident expert Steve P. is still working on the IDs... looks like female/immature FPs are tough ID jobs... Romy

Yes, anyone still having non-identified Sunbirds from this time period at Makiling, please upload them again here. I had to reformat my HDD, and though I had all of them downloaded, now I can't find the folder and will have to go through all of the e-mail links from the photographer tech group to refind them again. Since there are quite a few, I still have to find time to review all of them and enlist outside help to confirm whatever ID I eventually come up with.

Nice shot, JP, of a sunbird whose ID is tough to crack! ;D

JP, I think that's blood on it's feathers ... hmmmm coz if you look at it closely, the strands of the feathers are very detailed and yet when it comes to the red portion, it seems to be sticking together. Of course I'm just guessing

No, doubt much it is blood - it looks like an immature male of something that I have yet to determine - usually, when you get these splotchy color effects on immatures - means young males moulting.
