Bravo Neon and thank you for the invite but I had to attend to something important. I am happy for you that you got the Rufous Paradise-Flycatcher. Now that you have satisfied your itch, it is time to look for the male RPF. Very nice and at 8.5 meters you really nailed it and no harm to the bird. LOL. Well done Neon & Mabuhay.

Thanks Ely, Doc William and Ramon!
@ramon, yes as soon as I've turned my head around after the service car you took made a U-turn I heard the immature MBFC and waited about a minute then I saw the RPFC among the thickets but could not take a shot until it flew on a tree branch in the open in the corner where the road forks. I was out and packed before the rains fell. Swerte lang talaga! :-)

At this distance plus a combo with 2X certainly brought details. Very nice handling at low speed.

How frustrating after we waited all morning and never got an opportunity to shoot it! Is it incredible luck you enjoy or are you really the Bird Whisperer?

Thanks Prof Tirso, Ariel and Ramon. Here's another photo from the same burst but this one processed to lessen the noise a little bit so I can crop a little closer. 5DM3 + 600 f4 IS + 2x Kenko TC, f5.6 (f11.2), 1/60 sec, ISO 10000, Manual exposure, Tripod-Gimbal support, 8.5m distance Tried a new workflow to reduce noise....this is a bigger crop (62% of original) from the photo above.

There is a proposal to split the 2 subspecies of this, but what should they be called? Mcgregor called them Long-tailed and Short-tailed Rufous Flycatcher. But if we keep Paradise the name gets very long... Suggestions please

Beautiful bird... captured well, Neon. You must have been in a place so dark at iso10000 and 1/60. Big congrats!!
