Visited Rye Harbour Reserve yesterday, which is on the East Sussex coast about an hour and a half away from me in southern England. A pair of Redshank were kind enough to walk past right in front of the hide I was in. Canon 7D, 1/2000 at 5.6, ISO 400, 400 mm 5.6L with support from hide window opening ... I somehow forgot my tripod!! 20120315-IMG_2974 Common Redshank, Tringa totanus by Mick Harris, on Flickr 20120315-IMG_2959 Common Redshank, Tringa totanus by Mick Harris, on Flickr 20120315-IMG_2964 Common Redshank, Tringa totanus by Mick Harris, on Flickr 20120315-IMG_2968 Common Redshank, Tringa totanus. by Mick Harris, on Flickr This fine Mallard drake also came close. 20120315-IMG_2944 Mallard by Mick Harris, on Flickr Other birds seen included Ruff,Golden Plover, Oyster Catchers,Avocets, Black-headed and Mediterranean Gulls, Sandwich Terns,a Marsh Harrier,Kestrel,Cormorants plus others all of which were too far away for more than record shots.

The Mallard Duck is super with the reflection of the duck so clear that you can see the colors. Well done Mick & Mabuhay.

Thanks Ely and Steve it was a good day out ...sun has not been a feature of our weather for a week or more and it was good to be about on such a day.
Happy birding,
Mick

Belated thanks Mark. Yes these birds came quite close to the hide luckily for me and the light was good and from the right direction for once.
