The Large-footed Finch, Pezopetes capitalis, is a passerine bird which is endemic to the highlands of Costa Rica and western Panama. Despite its name, it is not a true finch, but rather a member of the large Emberizidae family, which also includes buntings, American sparrows, juncos and towhees. It is the only member of the genus Pezopetes. Lovely shots! You got the exposure right which I'm sure is quite difficult with its dark head.
I thought you were going to say, despite its name, it has small feet ;D (which it does).

Super clear shots, Ariel. Rather than Large-footed Finch, perhaps it should be called Small-headed Finch.

The color combination of this bird is so unique. The second picture, is it the female or immmature bird? Both pictures are very sharp. Well done Ariel & Mabuhay.

Thanks guys! Probably, the people who decided to call this bird this name could not come up with better ones The second picture looks like an immature one but I'm not totally sure.
