Hi,
I'm currently in the stage of switching from nikon to canon. I'll be buying a new camera model Canon 50D and is also looking for a compatible lens that could take sharp photos of birds (something my nikon d5k + 55-300mm couldn't do).
My budget is max 40K, I don't mind second hand as long as it's still functional :-).
Thanks, Edward

Hi Edward, For a decent birding lens from Canon, your options are the following: 400 f/5.6 L 100-400 L IS 300 f/4 L IS (+ 1.4x TC) However none of these fall within the 40K price range. Below are some posts in PiPho. I am not in any way connected to the sellers/posters. 300 f/4 L IS - www.pinoyphotography.org/forum/index.php?topic=95769.0100-400 L IS - www.pinoyphotography.org/forum/index.php?topic=97340.0Another alternative is the Sigma 150-500 OS (not sure if it falls within 40K), but most of the bird photographers I know who bought that lens eventually switched to Canon. I believe some still have their copies. Hope that helps.

Hi Mark,
Thanks for the info, I might try to stick with canon's 300mm as much as possible if I can find a good deal.
Thanks, Edward
