A poor record shot of part of a bird from a trip to the Subic Rainforest .. I never did see more of it. Any help would be much appreciated. _K0C0548 by Mick Harris, on Flickr

Looks like a big cuckoo Mick. Maybe a hepatic Oriental? But I can only guess and cannot pin a definite ID

Looks like a big cuckoo Mick. Maybe a hepatic Oriental? But I can only guess and cannot pin a definite ID Thanks for venturing an opinion Adri. We only have one species of cuckoo in the UK to choose from and sadly these have become much scarcer in the past 10 years or so in my area. It's been many years since I have heard one heralding the spring with it's arrival in April. Thanks, Mick

I'd go for Bar-bellied Cuckooshrike. Note the unmarked rectrices.

I'd go for Bar-bellied Cuckooshrike. Note the unmarked rectrices. Thanks (again) Des. It was one of a lot of birds of various sorts that were in a small area but almost all were only partly and/or fleetingingly seen including a woodpecker (black with red head) a colourful black and yellow Oriole (rear view only) and some doves.
