My son needed to install some software on our (common) home PC so, lazy me, I granted him administrator rights for a day. He probably enjoyed his single day of power and downloaded some stuff, virus in tow.
Managed to clean it past few days with combination of Norton and Spy Doctor. But, in the process, deleted some files and, now, can't get gmail and our forum runs too slooooow.
So, if you guys don't hear from me for some time, I'm grumpily reformatting and reinstalling.
New target: build my own PC.

Hello Ding. Sad to hear about that. But maybe you can try using other antivirus softwares like NOD32, AVG, or Microsoft's very own Windows Defender (we used to use this before when we remove viruses from our client's PCs and it was effective). Lastly, I would suggest you use Firefox as your browser. If you're already using it, I'd also suggest you install NoScript. It blocks Javascript from websites except from those you specify in a whitelist, thus protecting your PC from malicious scripts. I hope that helps.
