Los Cusingos is a farm that used to be owned by Dr. Alexander Skutch, an American ornithologist who lived in Costa Rica. He is a co-author of many birding books including the "Birds of Costa Rica". Before he died, the government of Costa Rica bought his farm and made it as a protected area and bird refuge. I went back again to this place this morning aided by good weather and armed with bananas . Red-legged Honeycreeper (Male): All pictures taken using 7D+400mm ISO 250 Finally I got a good look of this Bay-headed Tanager ISO 400 1/320s A lifer again for me. This Male Blue Dacnis is like a jewel in the forest! And here's its female counterpart: ISO 400 1/200s I will post more in the coming days. Thanks and Enjoy!

I like the iridescent colors of the Red-legged Honeycreeper. The color of this bird and red legs makes it a bright combination. It reminds me of the Oriental Dwarf Kingfisher that has orange & yellow feathers with red legs. The Bay-headed Tanager reminds me of our Colasisi with the red cap on its head. The male & female Blue Dacnis are really gems with their ruby eyes. Congratulations on all this beautiful captures showing the beauty of God's creation. Well done Ariel & Mabuhay.

What a wonderful sight to see. Food is right there and they seem to be so polite waiting for their pictures to be taken before partaking on the banana you gave them. Costa Rica is truly a mecca for twitchers. I hope that when if ever I get to go there I will also have the chance to take such beautiful pictures of these beautiful birds. Well done Ariel & Mabuhay. I am so happy for you that you had such a delightful time. These Tanagers are like teenagers, young, colorful, and full of energy. LOL.
