I was at Balara when I saw this hovering in the far skies above UP, Diliman. Since I happily lent my KG to a friend who's going out-of-town and whose family have begun to show interest in birds, I have no way of ID-ing this bird. Sorry, it's a crop-to-death. Bird was too far and too quick.

I think this is a grey-faced buzzard. This means the birds are on the way back to mainland Asia. Where is the best place to see them in large groups? Atop Angat Dam! Maybe you can arrange for the gang to go there? Just one morning atop the dam would be good enough for raptor watching.

As always, I have no power over such decisions on Angat birding. But the News-Editor of a major newspaper can always make a request and I will have to oblige!

Hi Ding. I think this is a Chinese Goshawk. Black wing tips, four black tail bars. See Romy Ocon's pic of a flying Grey-faced Buzzard: Note the three black tail bars of the GFB as opposed to Ding's pic. adri

You, know, I'm really happy that Adri is part of PBP even if his armory is only a binocular and a spotting scope - seldom a camera. His is one of our best birders at WBCP in terms of familiarity with birds and availability. Adri. Way to go...

Hey, thanks, Adri. Even with a tiny photo you can ID the bird. Amazing!
