Canon Tele-lens suggestions for a Student

Hey guys,

it's been quite awhile since I've been shooting any birds lately. Thank God no birds have been crashing into our windows anymore but I can't shoot much because:

1.my focal Glass is lost (focusing is the worst possible!)
2.school

So I've been saving up for some new glass and hopefully before January I can already get my new glass so here are some lenses within my spending capacity:

Canon AF 400mm f5.6L USM

Sigma 120-400mm f/4.5-5.6 DG OS HSM APO Autofocus Lens

Sigma 150-500mm for Canon

As you can see I'm in a budget of anything lower than 1300$ hehehe. Hope I can get some advice from the Canon masters here.

Go with Canon AF 400mm f5.6L USM. I noticed those who got the sigma you mentioned sold theirs for the Canon AF 400mm f5.6L USM as soon as they could.

definitely a 400mm f/5.6L hands down

I've never ever regretted buying that lens and up to now I still use it and is one of my most used lens.

Sorry, but I'm having the lens checked by Canon first. If they can't fix the erratic focusing, I'll buy another 400mm f 5.6L. :-)

Well, this lens has been my workhorse for more than 7 years now. It's been through some rough times, so I guess it needs re-calibration. :-)

Ahhhhh! I hope to be able to purchase a 400mm soon. I'm close to getting a 7D too
