Ok, I did some shooting this morning and am really disappointed with the results. Please confirm if these birds have been canonized, as they look like angels with the halo. These all went through my regular PP workflow. Plain BG, really obvious? Still obvious with some BG? less contrasty BG? Tolerable? can be mistaken for a mythical creature? I think this is the one with the most obvious halo. This one went through extra PP to recover the underwings. or am I just.. rusty?

Nos. 1 is ok but 4 has a very subtle glow, albeit acceptable enough. Nos. 2 and 3 have sharpening halos along the back of the bird. All are a bit dark on my monitor, probably 1/3 to 2/3 stop. Sharpening is according to taste, and I'd add some more if these were mine. Will give the unprocessed crop a try with my PP workflow, then post it here in a few minutes. Ok, here it is. Unprocessed crop: Edu's Workflow: My quickly processed version - I adopted the same WB/color balance as originally posted, regardless if it's ok or not. I only touched the exposure, levels, contrast, brightness, sharpening and used some NR.

thank you mastah. the increasing number of comments on my pics being too dark has made me adjust the brightness levels on my screen and of course look at the histogram a bit more.

But would adjustment on brightness suffice? We may have the same histogram but if my monitor is too bright, my adjustments will become too dark on calibrated monitors.

Edu, anything other than a hardware calibrated and profiled display is processing by guess work. Even a TN panel if hardware calibrated and profiled can yield decent results as long as one looks at the screen perpendicularly.

guesswork indeed.. and I am sure I need more practice guessing as this next guess looks burnt on my screen.. the ritual of processing and posting and disturbing others just to see if the values (color values) are within range.. would really warrant one to say.. AOC
