Very interesting pose and the lighting and effective use of flash! Were you able to attend the Asian Bird Fair held last week in Davao?

Thanks! Yes I was at the Bird Fair - I was invited by Jun Osano. Alain Pascua was the one who encouraged me to post here (while we were on the bus back to the city). I got some photos of the very skittish Black-naped monarch at Eden Park - you mentioned this bird in your blog. Flash against the sun is still inconsistent for me - I need to practice more.

Thanks, Bobby! As always, you have only a few seconds before they fly away - this plus the adrenaline causing your hands to shake can almost cost you the shot!

Beautiful capture. Very good handling of the flash. Thanks, Rey! Exposing for the bird against the light is still tricky for me - the flash compensation and power are important, and in quick shots like this, it's easy to get thrown off! (I was!)

A nice artistic shot of the "bad bird". The effect of the morning sun was well captured. Keep shooting. lyd

Thanks, JV! I saw your photos - they're great! You have some nice birds in Argentina. Have you ever birded in the Philippines?

Yes of course, since i'm based here and am Pinoy. My Argentina collection was shot two years ago when i had a chance to visit Argentina for a couple of months on a work-related trip.-- did some birding on the side too. You may also check this link www.facebook.com/album.php?aid=70935&id=1132504107

Unusual pose and good control of the lighting given the environmental conditions at the time of capture. Thanks for sharing Enrique.
