I find the Grey-cheeked Bulbul (Alophoixus bres) fascinating. It is fairly large 9 inches compared to the Yellow-vented Bulbul 7 1/2 inches. It has a bright yellow on its breast and hardly keeps still. After trying to take its photo on several occasions without success I was able to take some at 11.8 meters and it made me so happy to get a close look at this bird. Canon EOS 1D Mark IV, Canon EF 800mm f/5.6L IS USM. Gitzo GT3530LS Tripod, Wimberley WH200 Head. Manual exposure in available light. f/5.6, ISO 1600, 1/200 sec. FULL FRAME F/5.6, ISO 1600, 1/160 sec. f/5.6, ISO 1600, 1/160 sec.

Wow that's the closest shot of a Grey-cheeked Bulbul that I've ever seen. Congrats! Thank you Bob. You can call it "swerte" (luck). Its always far and hiding among the leaves until it suddenly perch in front of me, at less than 12 meters away.

Beautiful looking bulbul sir Ely. First time to see this kind. Great catch! Thank you Toto. It is as common in Mount Darala to see this Grey-cheeked Bulbul as it is common here to see the Yellow Vented Bulbul. This is a place that you should give a try as there are many kinds of birds that are not seen here and many of them are endemic. Even the Olive-backed Sunbird is different because it has orange-red feathers on its chest aside from the usual colors.

Very excellent captures here Ely. Did you have camo? Thank you Don. I don't wear camo anymore as it is too hot. I wear pants and shirts made of synthetic materials that is light and cool. Earth colors like brown and green are most suitable.

Hahaha!;D Ely, please excuse me, its not only your posts I'm remiss on everyone else's, it's just that I've been busy and I'm used to just browse the latest 60 posts, if the forum is busy, especially if there are lots of replies on your posts, most of the earlier posts are gone and would take me sometime to open it up on the boards as my Internet connection while on the go is kind of slow. Cheers, Neon

Wow! Full of details and I love the green background! Congratulations, Ely! Thank you Ariel. The green background are the leaves of the bamboo tree. Its always nice to have green leaves as a background because it protects you from the backlight and in addition it give you a bokeh of the green avocado effect.
