I was testing the MFA of my 1D4 + bare 400 2.8 IS this afternoon and this playful stray kitten provided good target practice. I used an off-center AF point in AI servo to place the thin DOF accurately on the eye area. The very thin DOF, combined with the creamy bokeh of the bare lens, gives a pleasing "pop" to near subjects. 1D4 + 400 2.8 IS, f/2.8, ISO 800, 1/1000 sec, 475B/3421 support, 5.63 m distance And here's how the exposure looks in RGB histogram.
