With the shortish antennae (and the fact that I saw it in daytime), this looks like a young grasshopper to me. But I could be very wrong, so confirmation whether it's one or the other is appreciated. It's less than 1 inch in body length and captured this morning in Paranaque. This was using the new FW 1.2.2 on the 7D btw (works great so far). 7D + 100 2.8 USM macro, f/7.1, 1/200 sec, ISO 800, hand held, manual exposure in available light, spot AI servo, uncropped full frame, processed and resized to 1500x1000.

I also posted this at DP Review, and indeed they agreed it's a young grasshopper. Here's another macro shot from this morning. 7D + 100 2.8 USM macro, f/6.3, 1/200 sec, ISO 800, hand held, manual exposure in available light, spot AI servo, uncropped full frame, processed and resized to 1500x1000.

It is so wonderful to live in a place like yours where birds of different species come and visit you and you are able to capture them at a very close distance. In addition there are insects that I have never seen before like this red alien. Your pictures inspires me to try my Macro lens. Well done Romy. Mabuhay.

Thanks, Neon and Ely! Your pictures inspires me to try my Macro lens. Ely, if you look close enough, I'm sure there are many interesting bugs too around your backyard.
